Nouvelle Vague

Jazz Video - Nouvelle Vague

Jazz Fripon

J'ai écouté ce clip vidéo je ne sais combien de fois… c'est tout simplement adorable! Alors, vous connaissez ce vieux film sur lequel on a collé la musique de Nouvelle Vague… sans tricher, là…?

This takes me back to my undergrad days studying French cinema - I knew straight away the film was Truffaut or Godard and the year was 1962 or 64... but I did have to check the Youtube link to confirm the title (some details slip after almost 10 years)

Some films will ALWAYS be cool. This is one of them! Perfect match of music to the images too :-)

Hi Richard,

You're right about Godard and 1964. The film was called "Bande à part". It featured Anna Karina, Sami Frey and Claude Brasseur that we see in the clip.

Alors, oui, il s'agit bien sûr du film "Bande à part" de Jean-Luc Godard, qui date de 1964.

And yes, the original scene is just as cool as the "updated" one. It also seems fitting that Jean-Luc Godard was the head of the Nouvelle Vague cinema...

I noticed that there is about 1.5 million views of this video clip on YouTube! If this can turn some people on to see that great film, it would be great!
